There were cloud of doubts leering over MS Dhoni’s capability of finishing. Lots of statements being made about him. Match after match, there were questions being raised by experts, pundits and even owners. Fans and his fellow teammates though kept backing him and anticipated the comeback of the good ole finisher MS Dhoni.
And the prayers were answered, crowd was entertained and a thrilling bit of cricket was witnessed in the recently concluded RPSvSRH game. Pune was set a target of 178 and they were seen stumbling towards it throughout, they never got into the driver seat until Dhoni arrived.
Dhoni started off with caution as has been his usual styke for a long time now, at one point he was almost run a ball and that too courtesy a few boundries, Pune was always looking at a required run rate of over 12. But on the pitch today was the old Dhoni, who had the power and skills to finish off the match at any given situation.
The best part of his innings though was the 19th over, Pune required 30 off 12, and on the bowling end was IPL’s highest wicket taker and arguably the best bowler in IPL so far, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, but when you are bowling to world’s best finisher, it doesn’t matter what you have done in the past, you can be made to look ordinary by this great batsman. Dhoni hit Bhuvaneshwar for 19 runs with two boundaries and a flat six over long on.
He finished it with a 4 off the last ball when 2 runs were required and all the nay sayers were left shut.
The fans got what they came for, Captain or not, He is still winning games on his own.
