Arsenal’s hopes of Champions League evaporated with triumphs of Liverpool and Manchester City. Arsenal needed a slip up from any of the 2 teams in order to qualify for the Champions League but fate was not be at their side. They did their best and secured a 3-1 victory against Everton but could not enter top 4. To make things worse, Alexis Sanchez, Laurent Koscielny and Gabriel could all miss Saturday’s Wembley clash against the Premier League Champions Chelsea after a very disappointing day at the Emirates despite a victory.

Hector Bellerin gave Arsenal an important early lead but soon Koscielny was shown a straight red card for wild lunge on Enner Valencia. With 10 men, the gooners did not back down and Sanchez doubled the lead. Things got worse despite the lead as Gabriel was taken out on stretcher with a left knee injury due to an awkward fall.

Arsenal received another huge blow to their hopes of winning any trophy this year as Sanchez was limping off in the midway of the second half. Lukaku gave Everton a chance of coming back in the game with the help of penalty. He converted the important penalty and reduced the 2 goal defecit to 1. The score after the Belgian’s goal was 2-1 in favour of Arsenal. Aaron Ramsey’s spectacular 91st minute strike enabled Wenger’s men to seal the victory and at least finish the league on a high.

Arsenal will now play Europa League next season as they finished 5th in the table as Liverpool beat Middlesbrough 3-0 to seal a top four finish. Everton finished 7th In Ronald Koeman’s first year at the Godison Park It will be the 1st time in 19 years that Arsenal will not be part of the top tier of the European Cup named Champions League.
