World number 4 Simona Halep suggested that she might only have a ‘50-50’ chance of being fit to participate in the French Open after injuring herself in the ankle during the Italian Open Final in Rome last week. Simona Halep has posted a photograph on her Instagram account of having treatment on the injury.

The 25 year old Romanian said,  “Arriving early in Paris for treatment. The MRI scan shows a torn ligament from the fall in Roma. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for RG and will do everything possible to be reay. Docoters say it’s a 50/50 at the moment but it’s made good improvement since Sunday. Thank You for all of the support the last few weeks. We are remaining very positive. Love,Simo”

Halep would be the favourite to win clinch the Rolland Garros as Serena Williams, Victoria Azarenka and Maria Sharapova will all be absent from the French Open. It could be her maiden Grand Slam title if she manages to participate and win the tournament. She won the Madrid Open and was runners up Italian Open losing to Elina Svitolina in three sets.
