Mahindra Racing recorded its second straight podium finish in the FIA Formula E Championship. The team was successful in achieving a double points finish in the Paris ePrix.
Mahindra Racing driver Nick Heidfeld continued on his brilliant run from last week and clinched the third place in the Paris ePrix. His team-mate Felix Rosenqvist was good enough to finish at the fourth spot to hand their team with a double points finish. Both the racers had an impressive outing in the Monaco ePrix that took place last weekend. Heidfeld finished in an identical third place while Rosenqvist had finished in the sixth position.
Along with the individual performances of both the drivers, it was an improved performance overall for the car. All four of Mahindra’s M3Electro race cars performed incredibly well in the 49-lap race. The drivers were able to the give the leaders a run for their money in the race that was spread around the Les Invalides street circuit in Paris.
Mahindra Racing began the race in the fifth and sixth place. On the very first lap, however, Heidfeld managed to move to the fourth spot. Rosenqvist also slowly started gaining positions. Their progression was unfortunately halted by a crash and they had to make early pit stops. After the coming out of the pits after being able to exchange the cars, Mahindra Racing tandem were instrumental in leading their team to move up one place to fourth and close the gap on ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport in the team rankings.
Heidfeld said, “It is great to have two podiums in a row. This is one of the best circuits in the season and you simply cannot beat the surroundings. It was another exciting race and the good thing is that we were a lot more competitive than we were in Monaco.”
The winner of the race was Sebastien Buemi, who claimed his fifth win of the season. DS Virgin rookie racer Jose Maria Lopez was the other podium finisher, finishing in the second place. The upcoming race will be held in Berlin from 10th June to 11th June 2017.
