Sania Mirza and her partner Ivan Dodig crashed into the quarter final event of mixed doubles in the French Open. Sania and her Croatian partner notched up a commanding win over their opponents in the French Open on Sunday.
Storming their way into the quarter finals, the Saina-Dodig pair beat the duo of Elina Sviltlina from Ukraine and Artem Sitak from New Zealand 6-2 6-4 in a second round match. It was a very easy day in the office as there was not much resistance from the opponents and Sania-Dodig pair will have their one eye on the Slam already after such commanding victory.
Another Indian participating in the French Open is Rohan Bopanna. He along with his partner with Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay crashed out of the men’s doubles event after losing to Jamie Murray (Great Britain) and Bruno Soares (Brazil) 6-7 2-6 in a third round match.
Another Indian duo in men’s doubles was Purav Raja and Divij Sharan also could not find a spot in the last 8 as they lost their third round match to the pair of Ryan Harrison of USA and Michael Venus of New Zealand. They lost with a score line of 6-4 6-7 2-6.
Zeel Desai who was participating in the Women’s singles event lost in the opening round match to Daniela Vismane of Latvia 0-6 2-6.
