The skipper of India’s Women’s cricket team, Mithali Raj gave a fitting answer to a journalist’s question regarding her favorite male cricket player. She was speaking to the journalists at the media round table when a journalist hurled the question at her. Before answering that question, Mithali Raj spoke to shed light on how the Indian women’s cricket team is different from the men’s team.

When asked to name her favorite cricketer from the men team, she said “Do you ask the same question to a male cricketer? Do you ask them who their favourite female cricketer is? I have always been asked who is your favorite cricketer but you should ask them who their favorite female cricketer is.”

Indian tennis icon Sania Mirza was quick to laud the captain on social media platform, Twitter. Mirza, who is married to Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik tagged Mithali in her tweet and stated that the latter was absolutely spot on with her reply. The 34-year-old cricketer took to her own Twitter handle and responded to Mirza’s tweet. She thanked the fellow woman sports star and praised the recently released video from MARD featuring Sania.

Mithali Raj is all set to lead team India in the 2017 ICC Women’s World Cup that is slated to kick start tomorrow. India will be in action against hosts England on the opening day.India will go into the tournaments as favorites and also the number one side in the ICC ODI rankings. England, on the other hand, are not too far away from them as they are in the fourth place heading into the tournament.
