MS Dhoni was in good form with the bat in the series.
MS Dhoni turned 36 years old and celebrated it with a win in the 5th ODI against West Indies, as India won the 5 match ODI series 3-1 against West Indies.
The star of the match was Indian Captain Virat Kohli, who scored his 28th century in ODIs and 18th chasing, leaving Sachin Tendulkar behind. Kohli also spoke of his predecessor at the press conference.
“He is striking the ball beautifully, you don’t need to tell him anything in terms of how to play a situation, how to build an innings,” said Kohli about MS Dhoni.
Kohli defended Dhoni, as a journalist doubted Dhoni’s place in the team. Dhoni scored a brisk 78 in the 3rd ODI, which India won. However, his 114 ball 54 was blamed for India’s defeat in the 4th ODI, as India failed to chase 180 odd runs.

Kohli said, “You have to figure out what kind of wickets you are playing on as well. I was trying to hit the spinners a couple of days in practice and I couldn’t because the wickets were not that great to play strokes, the wicket in the centre was much better. You can’t really judge a guy’s batting form at practice because you don’t know what kind of wickets you are going to get.”
