On Thursday, there were six Indians who had entered the semi-final of their respective categories but only 1 advanced to the finals at the Asian Youth Boxing Championships in Bangkok. World Youth Champion Sachin Siwach (49kg) was the only Indian to qualify for finals. On Friday, he will fight for the gold medal while other five settled for bronze medals.

In the semi-final, Siwach defeated Thailand’s Panmod Thitisan to enter the final, where he will face Uzbekistan’s Samandar Kholmurodov.

Ankit Kumar lost to Thailand’s Sakda Ruamtham in a close bout in 60 Kg category. Naveen Boora in 69kg category also could not win. He was defeated by Thailand’s Peerap Yaesungnoen.

Harshpreet Sahrawat was fighting his first match of the tournament due to low entries in the super heavyweight (+91kg) category. He failed to beat Uzbekistan’s Lazizbek Mullajanov.

In the 56 kg, Mohammed Etash Khan could not enter finals and had to settle for bronze medal after losing his bout to Thailand’s Pluem Wangkhlaklang. Sachin in the 75kg competed last on Thursday but he could not make it through to the finals and lost to China’s Zhu Chao.
