UP Yoddha and Gujarat Fortunegiants started their Pro Kabaddi season with a win in their bag by the former defeating Telugu Titans 31-18 and the latter thumping Dabang Delhi 26-20 at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium.
Nitin Tomar who received the maximum amount of bid earlier made full justice by leading UP in the best way possible. Rishank Divadiga was impressive with his raids. Rahul Chaudhuri, the phenomenal raider only achieved 7 points against UP’s solid defense. Thus the Titans suffered their third defeat in succession and the Yoddhas would get a four-day gap before they go for Bengaluru Bulls.
The other match suffered a similar fate for the debutants. Gujarat Fortunegiants opened their account in the third minute with a tackle point. They followed it up with two more points in the next minute to lead 3-0 after four minutes. Delhi scored their first point in the sixth minute but was not enough as they were still lagging behind. Iranian defender Fazel Atrachal gave a remarkable performance.
Gujarat earned a technical point in the 19th minute and followed it up with an all out in the 20th minute and ended the first half leading 15-5. A second all out was inflicted by Gujarat in the 31st minute to lead 25-9. Gujarat have dominated the game all the way around since it started.
Both the debutants gave an impressive performance in their first match to bag in first points.
