Arjuna Awards is one of the most prestigious sports awards presented by the President of India to honor the achievements of sports persons. The Arjuna Award was instituted in 1961 and carries a cash award of INR 500,000, a bronze statue of Arjuna and a scroll.

This year, two of the most promising young cricketers in Cheteshwar Pujara and Harmanpreet Kaur were chosen for the Arjuna Awards.

While Pujara had an exemplary period of qualification with a brilliant series against Australia and Sri Lanka, Harmanpreet made the country proud by playing the Women’s BBL and then, inspiring the Indian women’s team in the recently played Women’s World Cup 2017.

Harmanpreet scored 171* against Australia in the semis and took India to the finals against England at Lord’s. Pujara, scored two back to back centuries against Sri Lanka recently.

Both Pujara and Harmanpreet decide to thank their fans in a video released by BCCI.TV .
