Hyderabad born Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has admitted that Rohit Sharma’s artistry while batting in full flow is something that fascinates him. In fact, Nadella went to compare the Mumbai batter stroke play with that of India’s legendary batsman VVS Laxman.
“I love watching Rohit Sharma play, you know that follow through of his, his cover drives. He reminds me of VVS Laxman. When he (Rohit) is on song, I think he is just glorious to watch,” Nadella said while speaking to TOI.
It is quite a compliment for Rohit considering the fact that everyone nowadays is going gaga over the heroics of Indian captain Virat Kohli. Nonetheless, Nadella considers Kohli as someone very special. The 50-year-old Microsoft CEO, who is fond of Test cricket, also finds India’s seasoned spinner Ravichandran Ashwin as someone who possesses a unique talent of delivering six different bowls in an over.
“Unfortunately I don’t have time, but I follow it through Cricinfo quite a bit, I love Test cricket. I think Virat Kohli is someone who is very special. It’s awesome to see the Indian pace attack. I think R Ashwin is someone who can bowl six different balls in an over, with his variety of balls,” he opined.
India’s killer instinct as a unit to go with their top-notch athleticism in recent times is something that has impressed Nadella the most. He also feels that the current Indian team play pretty much akin to the previous era of the Australian side.
“Their (Team India’s) fielding, the athleticism, the professionalism, is something else. It is fantastic to see the Indians play like Australians,” he concluded.
