As the group rounds of Dubai World Superseries finally comes to an end. India’s PV Sindhu proudly earned an already assured spot in the semis of women’s singles category.

Sindhu continued to display her invincible game in the third match of Dubai SUperseries against World No 2 Japanese Akane Yamaguchi. However, Kidambi Srikanth who has a good season this year failed to make a mark at DubaiSSF as he lost another match against China’s Shi Yuqi to get eliminated from $1 million Dubai Superseries Finals.

The nation holds big hopes from Sindhu who has been on fire since the very first game. World No 3 Sindhu thrashed Yamaguchi 21-9, 21-13 in just 36 minutes to top the group in women’s singles. With this, the group stages end and she moves ahead to face China’s Chen Yufei in the semi-finals. Sindhu who is number 3 in the world ranking is going to face World No 8 for the 6th time. Chen has a 2-3 record against the Indian.

However, World No 4 Srikanth suffered his third straight loss in men’s singles Group B, going down 17-21 21-19 14-21 to Shi Yuqi in a match that lasted 1 hour 7 minutes. It turned out to be an anti-climax for Srikanth, who became the first Indian to win four Superseries titles this season.

Sindhu already has two superseries title before winning a silver at the World Championship and now, she has big chances to win the third title. Today she will face China’s Chen Yufei, who has made it to the semis after beating Thailand’s Ratchanok Intanon 21-18, 13-21, 21-18 in a Group match.
