The results of Dubai World Superseries Finals 2017 group match repeats for India. In the Men’s singles, Kidambi Srikanth once again conceded a loss and gets eliminated from the tournament after losing a match against Taiwanese player Chou Tien Chen.
However, in the Women’s single category, Sindhu once again displayed a strong game to make it to the semi-finals of the $1 million Dubai World Superseries with one group match to spare.
Despite clinching 4 medals this year, Srikanth failed to continue his pace and dispersed against the attacking game of Chou Tien who defeated him in straight two games with a 3 points margin in each.
Sindhu who had won 3 titles this year manages to hold the Indian flag sky high by producing a game-winning strike against Japan’s Sayaka Sato. Subsequently, sealing her spot in the last-four with one group match to spare.
Sindhu’s firm game promises a definite medal in this tournament as in yesterday’s encounter she conquered over Sayaka in a straight two-game win 21-13, 21-12 in a mere 36 minutes. This was Sindhu and Satako’s fourth encounter, and after this, she has their score at 3-1.
“Luckily, I did not feel any after-effects of (Wednesday’s) long match against Bingjiao, and my movement on the court was better than it had been yesterday,” said Sindhu. “I am happy to have qualified for the semi-finals, but would like to maintain the momentum in my last group match on Friday.”
In the men’s single’s, Srikanth was outpaced by Chou Tien Chen, despite being one of the strongest competitors of the tournament. he lost by 18-21, 18-21 in under 45 minutes. His race in the tournament ends even if he wins his third group stage match against Shi Yuqi, he won’t be able to proceed any further.
