T20I is already the most exciting format of the game as of now, even after T10 started, and do you know what makes it even more exciting. A Super Over.

T20I match is a crowd puller because you get to see an action-packed performance from every player in just 3 hours. This is what the fans look forward to and the super over is certainly the icing on the cake.

5 Deserving Players should have been considered for India’s T20I squad

You will be surprised to know there were just 9 matches in the past which resulted in the tie. Out of the 6 were sorted by a super over, however, the 3 matches saw a bowl out as the tiebreaker. Prior to December 2008, this was a bowl-out, and since then it has been a Super Over.

In this post, we will present you the show to you every super-over-match that took place in the history of T20I. But, before coming to that, let’s watch the most exciting bowl out that took place between India and Pakistan in 2007.

So, now let’s just proceed to our list of T20I Super Over Matches that have taken place till now.

  1. West Indies v New Zealand, 26 December 2008

The first super over was played between West Indies and New Zealand in the history of cricket.

It was during West Indies tour of New Zealand, during the 1st T20I of that series, New Zealand chose to bat first at Auckland in front of an audience of over 20,000. NZ put up a score of 50 on board in the powerplay and went on to pile up a score of 155 for the visitors.

Chris Gayle’s blusterous opening collected 50 in the first five overs but after his dismissal, their innings slowed down. No other Windies player could manage to make a valuable contribution and hence they ended up on a total of 155 as they needed 2 from the last ball and managed to get just one.

That called for the first super over in the history of cricket. Now’s let’s leave the excitement of super over for you to watch right away. Have a look:
